How do I offer Osteofit at my facility?

Osteofit can be implemented at any community centre or recreation facility. The Osteofit provincial coordinator will provide support and act as a liaison between your facility and BC Women's.

For more information contact the provincial coordinator at osteofit@cw.bc.ca.

Program fees

Each facility determines the fee for participation in Osteofit and collects the fees from participants.

Program format

Osteofit is a BC Women's trademarked program and must be delivered according to the pre-determined format and curriculum. To maintain the quality of the program, BC Women's recommends a low instructor-participant ratio.

Equipment requirements

To offer the Osteofit program in accordance with BC Women's standards, your facility is required to provide the following equipment:

  • Suitable straight-backed chairs
  • Exercise bands or resistance tubing
  • Hand-held weights
  • Floor mats
  • Balls
  • Foam blocks
  • Bean bags and balloons may be required at the discretion of the instructor

Facilities will also be required to provide the following:

  • Assistance with faxing medical clearance forms to physicians
  • Photocopies of information handouts for participants
  • Data on Osteofit attendance four times year
Find an instructor

Find an Osteofit Instructor

Only registered Osteofit instructors can teach Osteofit classes. BC Women's will assist each facility to find an Osteofit instructor. This includes posting your request for an instructor on our website.

Instructors are hired according to the facility's existing employment rates and contracts.

Osteofit programs are taught by specially trained fitness instructors who register through British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA).

Visit the Instructors page for details about Osteofit instructor requirements, training and certification.

Promote Osteofit

Promote Osteofit within your facility

Promotion of the Osteofit program is the responsibility of the facility. BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre will list facilities offering Osteofit on its website and distribute this list to health care professionals in the community.

Please download these brochures and posters to advertise the program within your facility:
