The After Breast Cancer Clinic is a nurse practitioner-led initiative that provides comprehensive transitional care for individuals recovering from breast cancer and continuing on adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET).
The clinic works in close collaboration with teams across BC Women’s Hospital, BC Cancer and a range of community-based services to address the unique needs that arise after active cancer treatment. We focus on improving long-term health, managing the side effects of AET and supporting survivorship.
The After Breast Cancer Clinic team provides in-person and virtual supports for the following health conditions and/or concerns:
- Treatment side effects
- Menopausal symptoms
- Bone health
- Healthy activities and exercise
- Healthy weight and diet
- Psychosocial issues
- Advice for prevention of cancer recurrence
Providers also assist patients in finding resources for:
- Counselling
- Mentorship
- Support groups
- Stress management
- Return to work
- Education for optimal health and wellness
- Support for you and your GP or other primary care provider
BC Cancer’s Vancouver Centre medical oncologists make referrals to this clinic.
If we accept the referral, our clinic will contact the patient directly to book an appointment. A service clerk will share appointment details, as well as an information package and questionnaires.
While attending this clinic, a nurse practitioner and nurse provide cancer-related care. During patient appointments, we provide routine clinical examinations, coordinate necessary breast imaging, review your endocrine therapy and offer symptom management. While patients receive specialized care through this clinic, we encourage them to continue seeing their primary care provider for any general health concerns.
Once we discharge patients from this clinic, their primary care provider, such as their family doctor or nurse practitioner in the community, will provide care in addressing any ongoing health concerns.

Our clinic hours are from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
