After Breast Cancer Service

The After Breast Cancer (ABC) Service provides transitional care tailored to breast cancer patients on adjuvant hormonal therapy.
Our services

Who this service is for

You have completed your initial cancer treatment (surgery, radiation, +/- chemotherapy) and you are taking adjuvant hormonal therapy.

You can be referred to this service if you and your medical oncologist agree you would benefit from additional support for any of the following: 

  • Treatment side effects
  • Menopausal symptoms
  • Bone health
  • Healthy activities and exercise
  • Healthy weight and diet
  • Psychosocial issues
  • Advice for prevention of cancer recurrence
  • Finding resources for:
    • Counseling
    • Mentorship
    • Support groups
    • Stress management
    • Return to work
    • Education for optimal health and wellness
    • Support for you and your GP or other primary care provider
Appointments

What to expect

  1. Your medical oncologist (BC Cancer Agency Vancouver Centre) will refer you
  2. We will provide you with an information package and questionnaires
  3. Our ABC Service booking clerk will contact you with an appointment
  4. While attending the ABC service, a nurse practitioner will provide your cancer-related care
  5. We will discharge you to your general practitioner or other primary care provider after your symptoms improve and a plan for addressing ongoing concerns is in place
  6. We may also invite you to participate in research programs related to this service
