Making Connections is a guide to help service providers from anti-violence and mental health and addiction sectors facilitate a support group for women with experiences of abuse, substance use, and mental health issues.

The aim of the Making Connections curriculum is to provide women the opportunity to connect and heal. Making Connections supports women to gain a new perspective on their abuse and how it has affected their safety and health.

Along with a facilitator's guide, we have developed a work book for women participating in the sessions to assist them throughout the twelve-week support group.

Making Connections was developed and piloted by BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre with the generous financial support from the Canada Post Foundation for Mental Health and the Canadian Women's Foundation. The project would not have been possible without the partnership and dedication of the BC Society of Transition Houses.

Many courageous and wise women contributed to the development of the Making Connections curriculum. We gratefully acknowledge their contributions and commitment to this project which helped make the curriculum relevant and reflective of the needs of women with experiences of abuse.
