Oak Tree Clinic - Training

OTC offers an elective for residents who want to learn more about HIV in women and families, reproductive infectious disease and congenital infectious disease (coming soon).

Oak Tree Clinic has a multidisciplinary team which includes Adult Infectious Diseases, Ob/Gyn and Pediatric Infectious Disease physicians and Nurse Practitioners. Our allied health team includes pharmacists, nurses, social worker, registered dietitian, clinical counselor, outreach worker, and a psychiatrist. 

Residents will learn about the various Antiretrovirals, HIV/HCV co-infection management, drug interaction of ARVs and other medication, and the medical/ primary care issues they need to pay attention to when they see HIV+ patients. They may be exposed to instances of HIV in pregnancy, in youth/children and exposed but un-infected children. 

Elective duration can be 2 or 4 weeks. 
There are no calls involved during this elective. 
Clinic hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.
