BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre is committed to providing patients with the highest quality of care. We expect all of our employees to hold themselves to the highest standards of professional conduct and are committed to upholding the values of respect and compassion for our patients and our employees, leaders and physicians.

This individual has built a career on deception and impersonating licensed professionals. We are using this incident as an opportunity to strengthen system processes to the fullest extent possible. This is, however, an unfortunate reminder that individuals with criminal intent exist in our world and can be motivated to bring harm to both people and organizations.

As part of strengthening our processes and out of an abundance of caution, we have conducted a review to re-confirm that all of PHSA’s licensed health-care professionals hold valid registration with their respective colleges.

PHSA has communicated directly with potentially impacted patients who are confirmed to have received care from this individual and will continue to provide support to any of those patients with questions about their care.

In our letters to patients, we provided a BC Women’s contact phone number and invited any patient, or their physician, to contact us to discuss this matter further, should they wish to do so. Due to the in-depth nature of these calls and the time we commit to each one, some patients might not have received an immediate call back. We apologize for any delay and thank patients for their patience during this time. We remain committed to contacting each individual who has reached out to us.

The letter also noted contact information for the Provincial Health Services Authority Patient Care Quality Office for any patients wishing to express concerns about the quality of their care. We are responding to each call as quickly as possible and are providing further guidance and individualized support as identified by the patient during the call, and liaising with the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), as appropriate.

Any patient who has received a letter from BC Women’s and wishes to speak with police can contact the VPD lead investigator directly at 604-717-2556. The VPD can also assist with referral to Victim Services for support.

As this matter is before the courts, we are unable to disclose further details at this time.
