Food services
There are a number of retail food options while patients, families, caregivers and visitors are at our hospital. Food and beverages are available at varying price points. We have listed the available options below, including locations and opening hours.
Separate food services are available for patients who are staying in the hospital for a short or long time.
Hospital cafeteria - connectcafé
Location: Level 1, Shaughnessy building.Food options: Variety of food stations, dessert corner, baked goods, soups, self-serve salad bar, grab-and-go snacks and sandwiches. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available.
Opening hours:
- Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Saturday to Sunday: 8 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Starbucks
Location: Lobby, Ambulatory Care Building, near entrance 42. Food options: Warm and cold beverages and light snacks.
Opening hours:
- Monday to Friday, 5 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
- Saturday to Sunday, 5:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
- Statutory holidays, 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Café 11
Location: Lobby, BC Children's Hospital west entrance, near entrance 11.
Food options: Hot and cold beverages, baked goods, sushi, grab-and-go snacks, sandwiches and soup.
Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available.

Connect Express (snack bar)
Location: Lobby, BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre main entrance, near entrance 93.Food options: Hot and cold beverages, baked goods, sushi, grab-and-go snacks, salads and sandwiches.
Opening hours:
- Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Closed on weekends and statutory holidays
Vending machines
Vending machines are available in various locations. Depending on the machine, you will find cold beverages, coffee and light snacks. Most machines accept card payment, with a select number offering coin payment options. You can find them in the following locations: - In the cafeteria

- By entrance 35
- Lobby, Teck Acute Care Centre
- 2nd floor, BC Children's Hospital Ambulatory Care building (directly above Starbucks)
- Near inpatient units in the BC Children's Hospital building
Patient food services
We offer and deliver room service to patients who are staying at the hospital for short or long-term durations.
Patients or their family or caregiver can order their meals between 7 a.m. and 6:15 p.m., seven days a week, by calling 604-875-2233.
Menu items are subject to change without notice. For the most up-to-date menu, please contact the Diet Office at the number above.
Additional menus are available and are based on the diet orders, dietary restrictions and allergies of the patient.

Safeway Food & Pharmacy is located approximately three blocks from the hospital at 990 West King Edward Avenue. There are also some restaurants and retail outlets in the surrounding area.
Patients and families are welcome to use food courier services such as Skip the Dishes or Uber Eats.
Please note: You are responsible for collecting the delivered meals from the location of your choice. Hospital staff are unable to deliver ordered food to patients or families directly. This is not their responsibility.
