The BC Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Immunoprophylaxis Program is a Provincial Health Services Authority program that coordinates nirsevimab RSV monoclonal antibody interventions for qualifying children under 2 years of age.
The RSV program also promotes health education to reduce RSV morbidity in BC.
Nirsevimab is a Health Canada-approved, long-acting monoclonal RSV blocking antibody given during the fall and winter seasons. It is available free of charge to children up to 2 years of age who meet specific criteria and are at high or moderate risk of hospitalization from RSV infection.
Eligibility criteria for the publicly funded program are grounded in available evidence and clinical rationale, and are reviewed annually. Review the

In BC, administration of nirsevimab to eligible children through the BC RSV Immunoprophylaxis Program begins each year after September 1. Provincial RSV surveillance data are used to determine when seasonal administration ends, typically in early spring.
Families need a referral from a health care provider (physician or nurse) to access this program.
