- People with a history of sexual abuse or assault
- People with obesity who need an accessible exam table.
We offer a wide range of gynecological and sexual health services, including:
- Pap tests
- Pelvic exams
- Sexual health education
- Endometrial biopsy (for medical reasons only, such as post-menopausal bleeding)
- Intrauterine device (IUD) insertion or removal
- Implant (Nexplanon) insertion or removal
- Contraceptive advice and management
- Menstrual suppression
- Menstrual management
- Dilator therapy
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening
- Menopause advice and management
You can refer yourself to the Access Clinic, or a health care professional can refer you. Please visit the
referral page to check eligibility criteria and access the referral form.
You may also be eligible for at-home HPV self-screening kits, which can be used instead of a traditional Pap test. To order a kit or learn more, visit
BC Cancer’s cervix cancer screening program or call 1-877-702-6566.
During your appointment, you will meet with one of our female nurse practitioners. BC Women’s Hospital is a provincial teaching centre, so gynecology fellows and residents may be involved in your care.
If you need help with mobility, you may want to bring someone with you to your appointment.
