The Allergy Challenge Clinic provides consultation and challenge testing for pregnant persons with a history of or possible reaction to penicillin/amoxicillin, through both skin and direct oral challenge.
Patients need a referral from a health care provider to visit this clinic. Providers can find more details on the referral process via the
referral page.
Prior to your appointment, you will have a telephone consultation with a doctor from the clinic. Through this consultation, they will determine whether you will receive a skin test or an oral challenge.
Your clinic appointment will last approximately two hours. During your clinic visit, you will meet with several team members, including a nurse, allergist, obstetrician and pharmacist.
BC Women’s Hospital is a provincial teaching centre, so there may be students and other learners participating in your care.
This clinic provides service weekly on Friday afternoons.
