We provide contraceptive care and advice for patients with complex medical needs.
The Complex Contraception Clinic serves patients age 15 and older who need help with:
- Contraceptive counselling for people with complex health conditions or who cannot safely use certain birth control methods
- Managing periods (menstrual suppression ) for people with complex medical conditions
- Difficult implant or IUD insertions or removals in the past
- A current implant or IUD that is not in the correct position
You need a referral from a health care provider to visit this clinic. Find details on our referral page.
At your appointment, you will meet with a specialized gynecologist.
BC Women’s Hospital is a teaching centre, so students and other learners may take part in your care.
We will book follow-up appointments if needed.
We only offer same-day contraception insertion if you bring your implant to your first visit.
Clinic hours: Tuesday afternoons, once per month.
