We provide contraceptive consultation and care to patients with medically complex conditions.
The Complex Contraception Clinic provides care to medically complex patients over the age of 15 who require assistance with:
- Contraceptive counselling for those with complex medical conditions and/or absolute contraindications to contraceptive use
- Complex medical conditions requesting menstrual suppression
- Previous difficult implant/IUD insertion or removal
- Current mispositioned implant/IUD
A health care provider needs to refer patients to access this clinic. Find referral information on our referral page.
During your appointment, you will meet with a specialized gynecologist. BC Women’s Hospital is a provincial teaching centre, so there may be students and learners participating in your care.
We will book follow-up appointments as required.
We only offer same-day contraception insertion to patients who bring their implant device to the initial visit.
Our clinic hours include Tuesday afternoons, once per month.
