Maternal Pelvic Health Clinic

The Maternal Pelvic Health Clinic provides specialized early postpartum care to patients who have experienced severe perineal trauma through childbirth.

Within a patient’s first year postpartum, we offer comprehensive diagnosis, education, prevention, conservative and surgical treatments. We also offer rehabilitation through pelvic floor health physiotherapy and provide counselling for future birth experiences.

We partner with patients to provide individualized, person-centred care, through a series of assessments and questionnaires.

Referral information

Your health care provider can refer you to our clinic. Find more information on our referral page.

Appointment details

At your first visit, you will meet with one of our urogynecologists who will review your medical history and outline a care plan with you. You may have a rectal or ultrasound exam completed.

Your next appointment will involve personalized rehabilitation through pelvic floor health physiotherapy. We will continue to work with you up until you are up to one year postpartum.

BC Women’s Hospital is a provincial teaching centre, so there may be students and other learners participating in your care.
