About us

About us

The Volunteer Resources Department supports volunteers at BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre, BC Children's Hospital and Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children. We recruit, select and place volunteers in a wide range of patient- and service-focused roles across all three facilities.

Volunteers help support the social, emotional and developmental needs of patients and families. Their work adds to existing services but does not replace paid professional staff.

Our vision

Our vision is to improve the health of children, youth and women. We work closely with partners – including community partners like volunteers – to help people access the best possible health care in the most appropriate settings. Volunteers make a meaningful difference to the hospital experience for patients and families at all our facilities.

Our volunteers are dedicated, enthusiastic and deeply valued. They are one of our most important resources.
