We provide elective surgery for a variety of gynecologic health issues such as fibroids, infertility, abnormal bleeding, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain and many other conditions.
Booking of all surgical procedures at BC Women's Hospital is based on the principle of first in, first out, and according to provincially determined diagnosis-specific target times for surgery. This is to ensure patients receive as timely access to surgery as possible.
Please ensure that you and your office staff are familiar with current booking policies for Gynecologic Surgical Services.
1Assessment
Assess your patient and determine if they are appropriate for surgery at BC Women’s Hospital.
2Complete booking package
Note: A completed booking package includes the following:
- Regional OR booking form
- Pre-anesthesia questionnaire
- Pre-admission patient demographics
- Surgical consent form (BCWH/SPH/VGH)
- Consent for blood products form (if appropriate)
- Physician consult letter and relevant investigations (hemoglobin, endometrial biopsy, ultrasound reports, other specialist consultations)
- Contact information collection form for surveys of post-operative outcomes
- Consent for electronic patient communication
3Submit booking package
Submit the Booking Package by fax to one of the following:

4Post referral
Referring providers will hear back from the OR booking office via direct phone call or email from
BCWHSSBooking@phsa.ca.

Note: In the event of an urgent case booking (bench time < 4 weeks), the surgeon and the pre-anesthesia clinic (PAC) RN (604-875-2278) must communicate directly to arrange expedited review of the booking package.
