We have several parking lots at the hospital. You need to pay for parking, but some patients, families and volunteers may be eligible for free parking.
To help you get to your appointments on time, you can use our free valet parking service. Valet parking means that BC Children's and Women's staff park your vehicle for you. We provide this service to visitors free of charge, but regular parking rates still apply.

Free valet service
Valet parking means that hospital staff park your vehicle for you. We provide this service to visitors free of charge, but regular parking rates still apply.
This service is available at the following locations:
Teck Acute Care Centre, entrance 55, by the Emergency Department
Oak Street Entrance (between entrances 5 and 11), by Sunny Hill Health Centre

The hospital does not set parking rates. They are subject to change. Parking details are listed at the meters next to all parking lots.
Free parking eligibility
The following may be eligible for free parking:- Patients receiving dialysis treatment
- Patients undergoing cancer treatment
- Eligible volunteers
Patients and families: if you believe you are eligible for free parking, please speak to your care team.
Volunteers: speak to your volunteer coordinator, who can advise you on your eligibility and how to register your vehicle.
Financial hardship
Financial hardship parking permits may be available for those who are not eligible for free parking. We determine this on a case-by-case basis. For more information, talk to the social worker in the area where you are receiving care.
Electric vehicle charging stations
Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are available on our campus. Battery charging is free of charge, but parking fees still apply to these stalls. You will find EV charging stations at the following locations:
- Djavad Mowafaghian Child Care Centre - Stall 181 (maximum three hours parking)
- Healthy Minds Centre - Stalls 439 & 440 (no time limit)

Car share services
There are often Evo vehicles parked close to our campus. There are several streets close to the hospital where you can park your vehicle at the end of your trip.

Bus
There are many bus routes with stops near our hospital. They are all within walking distance of the hospital campus:
- #25 (Brentwood Station/UBC) stops at 50338 (King Edward Avenue and Oak Street)
- #17 (Oak/Downtown) stops at 50454 (Northbound Oak Street at Devonshire Crescent)
- #17 (Oak/Downtown) stops at 50339 (Southbound Oak Street at Devonshire Crescent)
- #33 (29 Avenue Station/UBC) travels Northbound and Southbound on Cambie Street, stopping just outside the King Edward Avenue Canada Line Station
Canada Line SkyTrain
The Canada Line provides rapid transit service from downtown Vancouver to both Richmond City Centre (Bridgeport Station) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
The closest train station to our hospital is King Edward Avenue Station, at the North-West corner of King Edward Avenue and Cambie Street.
From this station, the hospital is approximately:
- Fifteen minutes walk west, towards Oak Street
- Six minutes by car
Cycling

Each main entrance to BC Children’s has bike racks that are available for public use.

You may need travel assistance to attend an appointment or to stay at our hospital. There are several programs offering transportation supports for families travelling from out of town for medical care.

Health Connections: Each BC health authority has a unique travel assistance program for residents of their region who need to travel within the province for out-of-town medical care.
Hope Air

Travel Assistance Program
Travel Assistance Program (TAP): A provincial program to reduce transportation costs for people living in BC, who are enrolled in the Medical Services Plan (MSP) and must travel within the province for care that is not available in their home community.- Ask your family doctor or your medical team for a form to access support through TAP

We are committed to providing accessible and convenient parking options for all patients and visitors.
Our accessible parking stalls are designed to ensure that individuals with mobility concerns have easy access to our hospital.
There are 68 accessible parking stalls near the main entrances of the hospital to minimize the distance to the building. They are marked with signs and ground paint to make them easier to identify.

Only vehicles displaying a valid accessible parking permit are allowed to park in accessible parking stalls. Permits must be clearly visible on the dashboard or hanging from the rearview mirror. Please follow time limits to ensure that these stalls are available to those who need them most.
Unauthorized vehicles parked in accessible stalls may be subject to fines and towing at the owner’s expense.

Ramps to access the hospital
We prioritize accessibility and ease of movement for all patients and visitors.
Our sidewalks across campus have letdowns to provide safe and convenient access for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, scooters, baby strollers and other mobility aids. These letdowns have appropriate slope and width, and are textured to provide grip for wheels and foot traffic.
Sidewalk letdowns are strategically located at key access points around the hospital to ensure seamless entry and exit.
