Indigenous Complex Care Service

The Indigenous Complex Care (ICC) service is located within BC Women’s and Children’s Hospitals Indigenous Health Program.

There are currently two Indigenous Discharge Liaisons who provide culturally safe support to Indigenous patients and families who are receiving care at BC Women's and  Children's Hospitals.

The ICC service is available upon request for Indigneous patients and familes. The ICC team provides holistic and relational care for Indigenous families with complex needs who would like extra support after leaving the hospital. The ICC team works together with Indigenous Patient Navigators and BCW and BCCH care teams to support the transition process of returning home from hospital.

If you identify as First Nations, Metis or Inuit, you can request for the ICC Indigenous Discharge Liaisons to follow up with you and check in about the plans and progress you have made once you return home. They can help you connect with culturally relevant services in your community, speak with your care providers and answer questions that may arise once you are back at home.
