National recognition

Best in BC

  • The Psychiatric Genetic Counselling Clinic at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre was runner-up in the "Living with Illness" category at the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council's Quality Awards. This clinic was the first in the world to offer genetic counseling services to patients living with psychiatric illness and their families.

Expanding patient care

  • Women who give birth at BC Women’s Hospital can now help build an ethnically diverse stem cell bank by donating their baby’s cord blood to Canadian Blood Services’ Cord Blood Bank.

World-class medical and research staff

  • Dr. Jan Christilaw, vice president, Provincial Women’s and Newborn Health, Provincial Health Services Authority and Site Executive, BC Women’s Hospital, won a YWCA Women of Distinction award in the health and wellness category.
