We’re kicking off National Breastfeeding Week with a World Breastfeeding Challenge!

Once again, we are challenging Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) across the province and beyond to join in on a World Breastfeeding Challenge by getting as many moms to breastfeed at the same time in one general place.

We’re asking NICU staff to rally all the moms in the unit (and recruit more to join in on the fun) to celebrate National Breastfeeding Week and have all babies latch-on to moms at the exact same moment. BC Women’s has participated in this event since its inception in 2001. We encourage you too to register for the challenge!

When: October 1, 2016
Time: 11:00 a.m. (local time)
Where: Your local NICU/hospital

Studies have shown that mother’s milk is the optimal source of nutrition for all babies, particularly infants with significant health issues. This is a reason why we want to hold this important event in NICUs, where our most vulnerable patients are treated.

If you’re a mom who breastfeeds and has extra milk, please also consider donating to our Provincial Milk Bank
