May 5th will officially be proclaimed as BC Midwives' Day in the Provincial Legislature! This year, MLA Jennifer Rice (North Coast) and MLA Linda Reimer (Port Moody-Coquitlam) will each make statements on behalf of midwifery in BC.
Last year midwives’ across BC began celebrating the first baby born on BC Midwives' Day, and the plan is to make this an annual tradition!
BC Women's is proud to announce that its Midwifery team delivered the first baby on BC Midwives' Day! The family had pre-registered at BC Women's and planned a successful home birth. Congratulations to parents and baby!
To commemorate May 5th, the International Confederation of Midwives is inviting everyone to share the work they do using the “I am a midwife, this is what I do” activity on social media.
If you’d like to participate please share your photos via twitter and tag @BCWomenshosp and @bcmidwives (make sure you include #IDM2016 and #BCWomens in your post).
Your photos can be active, fun and interesting, and be sure to include a few words about what you do. Share via your networks and don’t forget to tag @BCWomenshosp and @bcmidwives.
Thanks to all the midwives out there for catching babies!
