The awards gala took place on June 7, and celebrated the remarkable contributions of women in BC with over 1,200 guests and volunteers in attendance. A total of 65 women were nominated for their outstanding achievements in 13 categories.
“It is such an honour to receive this award on behalf of our research team. The YWCA is an incredible organization in creating a positive impact for people in our province and community, and we are so pleased to be recognized by them. By working together, we believe that we can work towards the end of cervical cancer, and improve women’s lives in Canada and around the world.”
Dr. Ogilvie was recognized for her work in changing Canadian practices on HPV vaccination and her ground-breaking research towards the eradication of cervical cancer with a single-dose vaccine. A strong advocate for women’s health, Dr. Ogilvie has been influential in setting and directing health policy on reproductive health and sexually transmitted infections in Canada and around the world. She developed and leads ASPIRE (Advances in Screening and Prevention in Reproductive Cancer), a global health research program.
Congratulations to all the nominees and award recipients!
