The BC Women’s Childbirth Education Program started in the early 1990’s providing classroom-based prenatal classes to women and their partners at BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre. Classes were in response to the need at that time for a standardized, industry-recognized, evidence-based curriculum for childbirth education.
BC Women’s is committed to providing the highest quality care to women in response to their priority needs. Over time, population health needs have evolved and many helpful community and web resources have been developed in response to the diverse needs of women and their families. In light of these changes, BC Women’s reviewed the Childbirth Education Program in the context of priority needs of women who require BC Women’s services and program resource requirements. As a result, the decision has been made to close the program effective June 2, 2014.
We remain committed to working with our partners in the community on ways to support and advance the best information and learning resources for women and their families.
