Clinics
The Ambulatory Clinics offer a broad range of services for women throughout their pregnancy, including pre-pregnancy counseling. The clinic team includes specialists in high risk or complicated pregnancy (perinatologists), diabetes, rheumatology, hematology, nutrition, breastfeeding, social work, and physiotherapy. Services are provided for women experiencing a normal pregnancy through the Family Practice Maternity Service, as well as those women who may be referred with a complication that needs further investigation and/or treatment. The multidisciplinary team is committed to working with patients and their families to achieve the healthiest possible pregnancy. The ambulatory clinics have more than 15,000 visits annually.
ServicesBC Women's outpatient clinics provide a variety of specialized health services and counselling to women:
- Anesthesia Consultations offers expert advice about anesthesia during birth.
- Breastfeeding Services provides education and support for women who are experiencing difficulty or stress with breastfeeding.
- Diabetes and Pregnancy Clinic provides specialized care for pregnant women who have diabetes or who are at risk of developing diabetes during pregnancy.
- Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic provides pregnancy care (pre and post) for women with complicated pregnancies.
- Medical Consultation Services provides expert advice and ongoing support to women with medical conditions during pregnancy, including Rheumatology (joints), Hematology (blood) Cl, and Internal Medicine.
- Substance Use in Pregnancy (Fir Square) is an outpatient service for pregnant women who are actively using substances, or who are in a methadone program and do not have appropriate medical care.
- Maternity & Family Care includes family physicians and midwifery care for pregnant women.
- Physiotherapy Services assesses and provides ongoing treatment and support to women who have physical difficulties or concerns with their pregnancy.
- Nutrition Counselling Clinic offers supportive advice for pregnant women about nutrition.
- Reproductive Medicine Clinic offers a number of reproductive health services for women and their partners in the areas of pregnancy loss, infertility, premature ovarian failure, and menstrual irregularities.
- Staff Clinic provides prenatal care to women who have no other access to obstetrical care.

Directions & MapsThe Ambulatory Clinics are located just inside the Outpatient Visitor's entrance of BC Women's Hospital. As you enter through this door, report and register at the Information Desk (across from the gift shop). Once you have registered for your appointment, we will direct you to the appropriate reception desk. Give yourself an additional 15 to 20 minutes prior to your appointment to provide time for parking and registration. Bring your B.C. Care Card and any information that your doctor may have given you.
