Sexual Assault Services
What is sexual assault? Sexual assault is any type of unwanted sexual activity, by someone to whom you have not given your consent. A sexual assault may include use of physical force, threats or intimidation. Sexual assault is a crime. Our Services Since 1982, BC Women’s Sexual Assault Services team have provided sensitive, individualized care to youth (13 and older) and adults who have experienced a recent sexual assault. All services are confidential and free of charge. In addition to patient care, we provide education and training to health care providers and others working in the area of sexual assault. Our curricula range from brief presentations to in-depth training programs. Training is offered throughout B.C. The Sexual Assault Service also conducts research to improve our understanding of complex and emerging issues, and to enhance our capacity to respond to sexual assault in a health care setting.
