Aurora Centre has helped over 6,000 women recover from the harmful effects of substance misuse and abuse.
Over the years, many women have shared with us the gratitude they feel, and what it was about our program that helped them most.
We value these comments, especially those that point the way for program improvements, and we pride ourselves on the fact that what our clients say about our services matters. Here are a just a few of the comments women have written as they were preparing to leave our treatment programs. We hope they provide you with the inspiration, trust, and most of all, hope that you need to take the first step towards your own recovery.
“I truly felt this was my time and place to come alive, to make a final decision to live
or die. I have never been so proud of myself.”
"We are now beautiful smoke-free role models to friends and family!"
“I have learned to be able to leave my guilt and shame here when I go home, to be
able to communicate more and to love myself again. Aurora was the best thing I have
ever done for myself.”
“The Centre was wonderful. I learned how to relax and have fun again. It’s been a
long time. The groups, the women, and the tears, were more healing than I thought
possible.”
“It was an absolute privilege to experience and participate in this program. I learned
so much more about myself and others living with addiction. I really appreciated the
holistic approach this program offers. I learned and witnessed feminist process and
the empowerment model within our group and the magic of women becoming self-
empowered. From the bottom of my heart, thank-you.”
“What I have learned about myself in six weeks is remarkable. I feel lighter, in
control, and I know I have choices and that has given me a feeling of freedom. I have
made friends that I have laughed and cried with. I feel connected to something bigger
than myself.”
“I am so grateful that there is a place like Aurora and that life (and me) made it
possible for me to get this gift of being here. To give back hope to the hopeless, power
to the powerless, and love to the loveless, is such a gift.”
“I have to thank you for all the tools, compassion, respect that you have given me in
these last six weeks. I know this road is very hard. You have shown me that recovery
is a beautiful and challenging part of my new life.”
“Love Aurora’s approach to learning about feelings, self and beliefs and how to
recover from addictions and be empowered.”
