- Support or advocacy when dealing with health care providers
- Attend medical appointments or meetings onsite, with you
- Connect you with an Elder/Cultural Advisor for spiritual or emotional support
- Assistance with organizing traditional ceremonies
- Information on First Nations Health Benefits Program
- Assistance in filling out forms ie birth/status registrations or housing applications
- Connecting you with local community resources
- Access to emergency clothing
- Toiletries
- Laundry soap and fabric softeners
- Assistance with making a complaint
Staff and outsides agencies by providing.......
- Workshops and in-services on First Nation's issues ie Cultural Awareness
- Assisting you in navigating services and benefits for Aboriginal patients
- Connecting you to Aboriginal resources, local and provincial
Women's Wellness Clinics The program staff assists Aboriginal communities to develop and implement well women’s clinics in their own communities. The focus of the clinic is to increase access to pap smears, medical breast exams, and screening for sexually transmitted infections. *Guidelines for development of clinics (PDF) Education Workshops and Conferences The program provides a one-time grant to assist in the development of a regional women’s conference. When requested by women’s groups, we provide workshops on a variety of health issues and cultural awareness to those who work with Aboriginal women and their families.
