In Canada, over 26% (1.6 million) of children and youth are considered overweight or obese. The Centre for Healthy Weights – BC focuses on the overall well-being of the child or youth. The Centre involves the whole family in making lifestyle changes, such as adopting healthy eating habits and being more physically active.
What to expect
A team made up of a doctor, dietitian, and psychologist will:
- meet with the child’s family to review his/her health, and
- decide on which weight program is best (may include group or individual counseling sessions, or both).
