Diabetes in Pregnancy Service
The Diabetes in Pregnancy Service provides specialized and personalized care for women with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, women who have gestational diabetes, and women who are at risk of developing diabetes during pregnancy. With a physician referral, our team sees women before conception, during the pregnancy, and after the baby is born. After an initial assessment at BC Women's, most women outside the Lower Mainland can receive care in partnership with health providers in their own community. Our team also provides both hospital education and consultation services throughout the province. We are active in diabetes research and have published numerous articles and studies.
Our GoalOur goal is to help mothers with any type of diabetes have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. Our clinic helps women to: o have less complications for themselves and their babies o have less hospitalizations during pregnancy o learn more about diabetes management o become confident in self-management of diabetes in pregnancy Our Multidisciplinary Team Our team of endocrinologists, nurse educators, dietitians, physiotherapists, and the social worker is committed to helping you have a healthy pregnancy and birth.
