You can choose the way you want to proceed with your pregnancy at BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre.
You may want to have individual prenatal care, which means that you will generally have prenatal check ups with your primary health care practitioner, and may also access the resources of other members of the health care team as needed. Also, you may take prenatal classes to learn more about your pregnancy, labour and delivery and your new baby.
As well as offering individual care, BC Women's now offers group prenatal care through the Centering Pregnancy Program.
You might choose group prenatal care if you like to have:
-
your prenatal care, support, and education given together during your visits throughout your pregnancy
-
a chance to meet other pregnant women and make new friends
-
appointments with enough time to ask questions and focus on your needs
-
appointments booked well ahead of time to plan your schedule around these times
