Nutrition Counselling
We provide specialized nutrition assessment, consultation, and counseling for preconception and postpartum women, as required. Our goal is to help each women meet her nutritional needs for herself and her baby. You or your physician may ask for a consultation with one of our dietitians because of:
- Twin/triplet pregnancy
- Nausea and vomiting that interferes with eating or is causing weight loss
- Above or below healthy weight pre-pregnancy
- Too much or too little weight gain during pregnancy
- Food allergies or intolerances
- Diet restrictions such as low fat or vegetarian
- Disordered eating or poor eating habits
- Health conditions such as diabetes, Crohn’s or colitis
- Questions about healthy eating and vitamin supplements preconception or during pregnancy and lactation
- If you are under 18 years of age
- General poor health
- If your pregnancies are less than 12 months between births
- If you are breastfeeding while pregnant
No referral is needed for this service. We see women Monday to Thursday for one hour as a new patient and a half hour for follow-up. For more information or to make an appointment call 604-875-2330.
